Chicago born native, Shaz Taylor is a self-taught artist who has a passion for visual art, theater and dramatic architecture. She received her bachelor’s in Interior Architecture from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After studying Art & Architecture in Italy, Shaz worked as a high end residential interior architect while also exhibiting her work at several galleries and exhibitions throughout Chicago.
After receiving her MFA in Production Design from the American Film Institute, 2012. She went on to work with entertainment/themed design firms in Los Angeles California. As a current member of the Art Directors Guild Local 800, Shaz has worked in the entertainment industry since AFI. Projects include DJANGO UNCHAINED, REAL HUSBANDS OF HOLLYWOOD, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, LET’S MAKE A DEAL, MAC MILLER SDS music video and TV ONE original feature WHITE WATER.
Today, Shaz resides in the DMV area. Her art showcases her growth as a young woman to motherhood finding her purpose. She often paints as therapy to cope and express herself through life-changing events. Each piece represents her understanding of life at different stages. Her work aims to invoke strength, joy, femininity, happiness and sadness. Her organic representations of imaginative interpretations of reality as a woman, sister, wife and mother. Always evolving she continues to challenge her creative expression through a variety of forms.
