Name: Elizabeth Duncan

Grade: 11

Location: Conway, AK

I'm Elizabeth! I enjoy painting African Americans and am learning how to paint in a realistic style, as I really like Kehinde Wiley’s style of realistic art. I am a hard working young artist who isn’t afraid to step out of my comfort zone and try new things. Art is going to be my career path and it’s what I plan to go to college for!

What does being a Black girl who paints mean to you?

Being a black girl who paints means changing the game. It's also means representation matters, especially in the art field. As a student in an art class where I am the only African American, I like creating art that represents black people. As of 2019 Only 1.2% of artist are black so being a black girl who paints means that I am adding on to that 1.2%!
